Fall Is Here

Fall Maple Leaves Quilt Pattern

Fall Maple Leaf Pattern

For the first time in a decade and a half, I get to feel Fall again!  I got a little taste of it last weekend with torrential rain, cool temperatures, fog and a beautiful sky with scattered clouds the very next day.  Needless to say I am excited, despite this week’s high temperatures.  It is also October, which means Halloween is right around the corner.  I am making a Halloween quilt with 17 paper pieced blocks.

Maple leaves made with Halloween fabric, a perfect marriage!

Two of my favourite prints

Since I was going to make multiple paper pieced leaves, I made this maple leaf quilt pattern super easy to sew.  There is only one point where the leaf joins the spine that has to be somewhat aligned.  The rest of it? Easy peasy!  I don’t need a seeing crystal to see a fall quilt in my future using this leaf pattern.  Isn’t it great when the same pattern can double as a fall quilt pattern and a Halloween quilt pattern?!

I just had to add another photo of all the leaves together.  Love the blocks on the wood floor in the diffused morning sunlight!  I am feverishly making more blocks for this quilt.  I will share more in the coming weeks as I finish a set of blocks.  The pattern is available in my shop and many thanks to those who already purchased it even before I mentioned it here!

I can’t wait to see what you make! The leaves are a pretty sweet start.

It’s finally starting to cool off here. We’re looking at a high of 65 Saturday which might as well be 30 for me. I’ll be cold all fall and winter now. :)

Never really cared for the traditional maple leaf block…this, I like though :) You have captured the true shape and character of the leaf with your design, very pretty start!

This is a really cool way to use Halloween fabrics. Looking forward to seeing the whole quilt during the hop. I like how intricate or detailed the leaf is.
