Selenite Clematis And A Few More Drawings

Stained Glass Selenite Clematis Flower Quilt Pattern | Whims And Fancies

I continue to sew the blocks for my stained glass flower quilt using the Downton Abbey fabrics.  I was looking up different varieties of dogwood flowers one day when I came across a picture of a four-petal white Clematis.  Right then I knew I had my next flower quilt pattern.

I wasn’t very sure about using the black fabric for the flower, but I really like it.  As I mentioned before, I am naming these flower patterns after my favourite minerals since these flowers look like they are made of crystal.  This one is named after the mineral Selenite, a simple but beautiful mineral.

Selenite Clematis is another fairly easy 12″ block.  It can be found in my shop.

I tried yet more new techniques on a few of these cards.  I learned so much about working with mixed media.  Thank you again for all your lovely supporting words!  I always enjoy knowing about your favourite ones.

Selenite Clematis is so beautiful Soma! The flowers really do look like crystals. I remember seeing some very dark purple, almost black, clematis while hiking outside of Juneau Alaska.
I so love your cards. Downpour especially attracted me this time, because you drew the impacting raindrops, something I have never seen anyone do before. You have so much talent it is amazing!

How beautiful that clematis is. It proves that simplicity exceeds complexity so often. Just beautiful.

I love the black petals in your block. I think Downpour is my favourite index card this week but it was a hard decision.

Wow! So gorgeous! You’re choosing your fabric so well for your flowers. It may have seemed daring to use the black fabric for petals but the result is, in my opinion, very beautiful. Your stained glass flowers have so much personalities.
It’s fun to see all your card paintings. This week, I particularly like the park bench. :-)
Pinned, as well as the iris.

Your clematis is stunning – and think using the black fabric was a moment of sheer inspiration: it looks perfect.

What a beautiful Selenite Clematis block! I also have a Clematis with that very dark purple bloom. You have captured the delicateness of the blossom.
My favorites for the cards are: Downpour and Snowdrop. I especially love the background , and the mood you have captured , in Downpour.

I really like this new series of blocks that you are doing. I have your other blocks, the thistle, rose, and 2 others which will fit in nicely with this series. It is always fun to see what creative things your are doing. Thank you for sharing your talents with others. Now to get sewing your wonderful flowers.

Your Selenite Clematis reminds me of a dark purple clematis a friend of mine had. It has been put on my wish list along with the other flowers. I really like the snowdoips, symmetry of colors (I call it rainbow trails) and balloon cards.
