It took me forever to come up with a quilting pattern for this little wall hanging. I wanted to use a pattern that would bring the instruments together much like in a musical piece. I also wanted to do very simple quilting to keep the focus on the instruments themselves. Recently, I got the idea of using music stave for the quilting pattern. I started playing with the lines, ending up with a spiral design, and that became the final quilting pattern.
I used two colored threads for quilting. I quilted the bottom half with a dark brown thread and the top half with an ecru thread. Originally I wanted to add a piano keys border, but I liked the quilt top better without it. I used a black binding for this wall hanging to balance out all the browns in the quilt.
This is my harmonious piano trio, which is now hanging in the sewing area of my living room.

It all started earlier this year with a violin and a piano quilt pattern because I play those instruments, and I continued to make various other musical instrument patterns on request. Once I finish the recently requested saxophone and banjo patterns, I hope to work on a couple more instruments for my rock music quilt.
I am taking a little break from designing and sewing for a few days to pursue another of my very favorite hobbies. I will write all about it very soon.
