Every time I think I am done with making the Union Flag, another idea comes and nestles in my head! I have been slowly but surely making quilt blocks for a quilt depicting things in my life that I cherish, things that make me smile. As you found out from my previous post, the old television series Dad’s Army is definitely among the top of the list. So how could I not make a paper piecing pattern for something that makes me smile every time!
The Union Flag part is paper pieced and there are some very small pieces. If I set my stitching length on the sewing machine fairly small, sewing small pieces is not really a big problem. I also meticulously trim and iron, specially when I am working with small pieces. I just love the detail they add to the block.
You can download this free paper piecing quilt pattern from Craftsy and the patterns page.
An update on the Halloween Blog Hop – Kimi has updated her pattern, Wicked Candy, with a better printable format.
Happy Sewing!!

i love this, great job. I am a huge Dad’s Army fan. How did you manage the text so well :-)
Thank you!!
I looked it up on Google, the font is called ‘cooper black’. Then I appliqued the text in that font.
