I am working on a music-themed wall hanging and instruments on it keep on changing! Since I play the violin, that’s what started it all. I drafted this violin quilt pattern and stitched the block a few weeks ago -
After going back and forth I figured what else could accompany a violin better than a Soulful Cello. It was very much like the violin, but without the chin rest and much larger. I didn’t include the bow in the cello quilt pattern because no matter where I placed it, it was interfering with the harmony of the block. So at the end I decided to leave it out. The cello is the largest paper piecing block I have made until today – a 10″ x 20″ block. I had to work with some large pieces, so pins were a huge help on this one.
Just like the violin, there is very little lining up on this cello pattern. There is also an alternate to paper piecing the f-holes. These two things made life a lot easier when sewing the block.
Soulful Cello quilt pattern is available on Craftsy and Etsy shop.
Now I am working on a piano as the next block.
Have a creative day!
