Doctor Who – Weeping Angel Redux

Weeping Angel Doctor Who Quilt Pattern

My original weeping angel was a 10″ block.  I thought I would enlarge that block to 12″ for the Doctor Who quilt with a white border as though you are looking at it through a window.  Except, there was a nagging feeling at the back of my head that the scale of the block just would not look right beside all the other 12″ blocks.

Then one day as I was spreading all the blocks out on the carpet which is also my “design wall”, my husband said “you are going to make another weeping angel, right?  That one is too small!”  My short and curt answer: “No!”  But I knew he was right!  So as I was packing all my stuff into boxes before the move, I snuck in one last block – a 12″ weeping angel.  I can assure you that the 12″ was not any easier to make than the 10″ block.

First Sewing at the new house

Since we moved to the new place, all the boxes are unpacked and I have painted the two smaller bedrooms so far.  As I was finishing painting the first room, we decided to change out the carpet before we put stuff on the shelves.  As we wait for the carpet installation,  it’s a bit of an organized mess around me and I am sewing and working at the dining table.

Aside from unpacking and painting, I am also taking care of this little boy who tore a claw two days after we got here and spent a whole day at the surgery.  We were so worried.  We think he looks adorable with that blue “shoe” and the blue-ribboned “bonnet”.  He sticks to me when I am sitting down or when I go to bed, so I can take his collar off.   This way we are spending a lot of quality time together.  His stitches are being removed today.

That’s about it!  I will see you on Valentine’s Day to finally show you what I made for the Hugs and Kisses blog hop.

Happy Sewing,

Doctor Who QAL – Power Of Three

Power Of Three Doctor Who Quilt Pattern

We are almost there, only one more block to go after this one.  Ah, the mystery of the cubes!  This penultimate quilt pattern was designed by Caroline for the Doctor Who QAL.  The background fabric you see here came from a fat quarter I had lying around for ages.  I bought that per my husband’s request when I first started quilting almost two years ago.  I had no idea what to do with it and finally the wait has paid off!

Wonderful photos and block collections are now starting to show up on the Doctor.Who.Along Flickr Group.  Make sure to upload yours.

Doctor Who QAL – Chameleon Arch

Chameleon Arch - Fob Watch Doctor Who Quilt Pattern

I have always found the mystery surrounding the Chameleon Arch in Doctor Who very intriguing.  The stories involving the fob watches are fantastic, both of the Doctor and the Master!  So we had to include the fob watch in our Doctor Who quilt-along.

Because of the circular shape of the watch, there is a lot of piecing on two of the sections.  Other than that, this is actually a fairly easy pattern.

I haven’t decided yet if I want to keep the watch face as though energy is emitting from it as I have it now, or embroider the watch face on it.  I would like to see what you end up doing.

You will need these fabrics to make this block –

1 fat quarter for the background

3 shades of grey for the body of the watch

white or swirly yellow for the watch face

Don’t forget to upload your block pictures on the Doctor.Who.Along Flickr Group!  I can’t believe the group now has over 300 members!!  So exciting!!

Crack In The Wall Doctor Who Quilt Pattern

Wasn’t it fun to see the eleventh doctor for the first time with little Amelia Pond?  She wasn’t afraid of anything but the crack in her wall really scared her.  Then the story about the crack in the wall started unfolding!!  Caroline made this perfect pattern of the crack in the wall for our Doctor Who Along!
